TL;DR: LocalMind is designed with privacy as a core principle. When you use on-device AI models, your conversations never leave your phone. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal data.

Welcome to LocalMind ("we," "our," or "us"). LocalMind is a mobile application that provides access to multiple AI chat engines — both cloud-based and on-device. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use LocalMind.
By using LocalMind, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the application.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information We Do NOT Collect
LocalMind is built to minimize data collection. We do not collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
- Account information (LocalMind has no user accounts)
- Usage analytics or tracking data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Location data
- Contact lists or calendar data
- Crash reports sent to external services
2.2 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is stored only on your device:

All locally stored data is deleted when you uninstall the app. API keys are stored using platform-secure mechanisms (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) and are not accessible to other apps.
2.3 Conversation Data
On-Device AI (Local Models): When you use locally downloaded models (GGUF format), your conversations are processed entirely on your device. No data is sent to any server.
Cloud AI (OpenRouter / HuggingFace / Ollama): When you use cloud-based AI services, your messages are sent to the respective third-party service to generate responses:
- OpenRouter — messages are processed per OpenRouter's Privacy Policy
- HuggingFace — messages are processed per HuggingFace's Privacy Policy
- Ollama — messages are sent to the Ollama server you configure (typically on your local network), governed by your own setup
LocalMind does not store, log, or transmit your conversation content to any server we control. We have no backend server for conversation data.
4. Third-Party Services
LocalMind connects to the following third-party AI services when you configure them:

5. Data We Collect (Remote AI Services Only)
When using cloud AI services, the following data is transmitted to those services:
- Chat messages — the text you type and the AI responses
- API credentials — your API key / token (sent for authentication)
LocalMind does not intercept, store, or log this data on any server we operate. The data flows directly from your device to the AI service provider.
6. Children's Privacy
LocalMind is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
7. Your Rights
- Delete your data: Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data (API keys, models, preferences).
- Clear chat history: Use the "Clear" button in any chat to delete conversation history.
- Manage API keys: You can update or remove API keys in Provider Settings.
- Data portability: Since we don't collect data on our servers, there is nothing to export.
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information within the app:
- API keys stored in iOS Keychain / Android Keystore (hardware-backed encryption)
- Secure credential access limited to the app only
- No data transmission to LocalMind servers (we have none)
- On-device model inference for maximum privacy
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. Changes are effective immediately upon posting.
